Responding to a request made by a then regional king of south India, Kerala, to serve as medical personnel in the hospitals owned by him – a real need of that time – our pioneer sisters set their foot in India in the year 1906. Though humble the beginning of the Congregation in this ‘foreign land’, in God’s providential care, it was to grow slowly and steadily in the years to come and today we serve our needy fellow men and women in this vast sub-continent in three provinces – The south Indian Province, with its Provincial house at Kollam, the Central Indian Province with its Provincial house at Bangalore and the North Indian Province with its Provincial house at Lucknow. |
